Easy Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No– 1 of 1 found this helpful – Sun, 3 Jul 2016
Interviewed Nov 2,015 in Austin, TX (took 1 days)
I was initially contacted by a recruiter targeting multiple openings in logistics/supply chain management and analysis. Descriptions of the roles beyond their generic titles were frustratingly minimal, and they were not prevalent on the internet for research of my own. After asking questions during two short phone screens, I was still not satisfied that I fully grasped the daily responsibilities in any of them. Holding a current job that I was satisfied with, I treated the on-site interview circuit as an opportunity to determine if I really wanted to work for Apple in any of these roles, which I believe was perceived negatively and ultimately contributed to why I did not receive an offer.
The series of interviewers asked general behavioral questions without anything particularly challenging. One segment was a lunch on the campus that was intended to be less formal, but was clearly still an evaluation. I was paired with the least conversational of my series of interviewers, who did minimal directing. My advice is to have a plan to steer this on your own.
Most significant to my experience was the lack of professionalism in interview follow-up. I was given a timeline by one interviewer that was not honored. After about 3 weeks of no contact, I reached out to express my continued interest and see some resolution. After a month I got a rejection email that I believe never would have come had I not pressed the issue. The recruiting team should aim to better uphold Apple's reputation by honoring candidates' investment of time and travel.
