Average Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Tue, 18 Oct 2016
Interviewed Aug 2,016 in Cupertino, CA (took 60 days)
I applied online and was contacted about a month later for a phone interview focused on the achievements on my resume. Then, I was scheduled for an on-site interview a few days later. There were 6 one-on-one interviews during my on-site visit. Each session lasted about half an hour. The interviewers were courteous. Most questions were behavior related. Interviewers would also ask situational questions with real work experience examples from my past projects. One interviewer asked a few brain teaser type of questions. (i.e. how many traffic lights in US, etc.) One of the interviewer were late and they had to find a last minute substitute resulting the interview to be shortened to 10 minutes. Contrast to other reviews, no interviewer asked the "Why work at apple?" question.
After the on-site interview, I followed up once a week with email, but the recruiter just wouldn't give me a clear answer on my candidacy. 4 weeks later, I called the recruiter, learned that they've placed me as the back-up candidate, and would let me know if the position is filled. So I followed up 2 more weeks, but the recruiter wouldn't respond anymore. To avoid overly aggressive, only one follow-up email per week was sent out. As a stay home mom trying to get back to the work force, I was scrambling to get a babysitter so that I could attend the on-site interview. It would be appreciated if the recruiter could provide some feedback, even if it's just an rejection letter. Using the silence treatment to reject a candidate is just a really unprofessional practice.
