I applied online at the beginning of September. I called two weeks later to asked whats the status on reviewing applications. The person who I talked to didn't have any clue when. About almost 5 weeks later (appromixmately 35 days to be exact) I received a phone interview from a recruiter. He asked me maybe 10 questions, both personal and business. I felt that me and the recruiter connected, mainly because we went to the same high school district and the athletics we played. That was pretty interesting. He told me that he'd give me a call later in the day after he wrapped up some more phone calls and let me know if I was selected. He called me later for an interview that was scheduled the very next day!
I went to the interview dressed in business formal attire. I had an interview where there was two managers and another candidate. This interview was decent really. They asked us very general questions; why do you want to work for apple, tell me about a time where you accomplished something great, ect ect. They asked for a copy of our resume, handed them to them. The problem that I had was that the other candidate was far better off than I was; college graduate, fraternity president, business & marketing degree, and had a marketing internship. Whereas I had more work experience in a heavy customer service based industry, employee management experience, and supervisor experience.
After the interview they told us that in 48 hours we would receive a call knowing what the next step would be. I felt like I nailed the interview but, 48 hours later instead of a phone call I received an email saying they picked the other candidate. I wasn't very impressed. But it was a once in a lifetime oppertunity. I just didn't understand why they chose someone who was clearly way over qualified for such a extremely low entry level position.
