Easy Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Sun, 3 Sep 2017
Interviewed Aug 2,017 in Baltimore, MD
The KEY to the interview at the hiring event is being as narrative as possible with your answer; in other words, make it a story. For example don’t say something like, “I help lots of people at my current job,” instead say, “There was this one instance when . . .” Trust me you’ll engage the interviewer(s) and they want to see that you are able to do that because if you are hired you will have to work with customers who simply want a great experience with a relatable person. Above all, don’t forget to smile! It seems like a mediocre suggestion, but everyone working the event will notice that the second you walk in.
The next step, they claim, at the hiring event takes about two days, but it took about a week to hear back for a follow-up; it really depends on the store. As with any interview eye contact, and a firm, but not overpowering, handshake are key. Along with that show off your killer smile, once more, and really show the person that you’re engaging with them. The next steps probably aren’t so typical, but my interviewer asked me to stay for another hour for the final interview with another hiring manager.
By now it probably seems a bit redundant, but the company wants to make absolutely sure they have the best. I sat at a table with the interviewer and two other very charismatic candidates. All of us sat there and chatted like we were friends, the interviewer asked us pretty standard questions, and we were sent on our merry way. Should you have an interview like this make sure to be cordial to the other candidates; yes, they’re probably going for the same position as you, but chances are Apple isn’t looking for just one person, and they want to see how you can handle this situation.
You’ve probably heard this millions of times, but be yourself, and understand that not everyone makes it through the first round; if you really want it APPLY AGAIN. One of the most successful people I met at the hiring event went to a whopping four different events before even being called for an interview! My final remarks for this are: identify most importantly why you want to work at Apple besides being a fan of their products; they hear that all the time. Second, identify what your biggest weakness is (they will ask about that) BUT also add how you’ve improved on it, and how you continue to do so. Finally, when it comes to any of these interviews (particularly the hiring event) at the very end have some sort of question for them. At the event it’s best to have something thought provoking. Best of luck; you’ve got this!
