Interviewed Nov 2014(took 14 days)
I applied online through the apple store. It had basic multiple choice questions, and extensive work history.
Got an email to go to a group interview 2 days after applying online. Group interview was held in Chadstone. It was a pretty relaxed. You can wear jeans. But I opted to dress a little more professional. Simple a line black skirt and quirky shoes and necklace to show off my "Personality" apple is pretty big on hiring "people persons" so having something interesting to talk about is a great way in.
Showed us a bunch of videos on what to expect at Apple, really glorifying it. It's a recruitment video so it's what you expect. Remember details of the video because afterwards they will ask you what impression you got about Apple from it. Sort of like a weird research marketing thing. But dont be shy to speak first, and let others talk as well! Be considerate! Smile heaps! Make eye contact with people when they are speaking.
We did roleplays afterwards, just really quick ones. It was sort of funny, like playing house. But as long as you treat your "customer" like a person it's fine. Don't make stuff up or doubt yourself if you don't understand or know much about technical specs (they expect that you wont know). Just talk about why YOU like the product, or what YOU think would suit the person for that situation.
I got a second call back via email about 4 days after for Doncaster. It was a two on one interview. Two candidates per store manager. They got you to sit in the corners of the stores on stools, and the managers would rotate (there was about 4 managers in total). They asked you basic questions about yourself and your job history. More difficult questions were what the most difficult thing you've achieved technically with apple products. How have you dealt with a customer in an ambiguous nature.
