Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Interviewed Mar 2015 in Leeds, England(took 30 days)
The interview process was quite a long one, but its so worth it so don't be put off!
First you will go to a 'Hiring seminar' in which there could be from 15-20 people, its a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We were asked to introduce the person sitting next to us after a brief chat with the person so getting to know people whilst you are waiting to go into the interview makes this much easier and less awkward! You will then watch a couple of 20 minute videos which give you a look into what apple is about and the job role you have applied for, they are looking for you to ask questions, listen to others and be generally friendly and interested throughout the interview. Eye contact is a great way of showing this they seem to really appreciate that as well as being involved in the group conversation, try to be yourself and not over do everything to get their attention, it could seem overpowering and that is less attractive in terms of what they are hiring for.
Following this you will be sent an e-mail either inviting you to the next round of interviews or removing you from the process, for me this was the next day but it varies.
The second interview is at the Apple shop you are applying to work at, with a different member of staff so maybe the store manager or somebody of that position. This interview is in a smaller group of around six and just as the first interview it is a really relaxed friendly atmosphere, it is more of a conversation than an interview however this time there are some questions for you to each answer after an initial introduction of yourselves. The questions all relate to how you deal with different situations, what you have done which you have been proud of and how you go about dealing with difficulties. I think the key in this interview is again to make sure you are paying attention to whoever is speaking, again with eye contact, and also to be genuine and friendly. Your knowledge of technology doesn't count for anything at this stage so try to concentrate more on how you are great with different kinds of customers and can cope with pressures. From what I have seen they like people who show that they really care about others and have the interest in helping people.
Following this again you will be sent an e-mail either inviting you to the next round (which for me was the final round but it varies) or removing you from the process.
The final interview is again at the apple store with a higher up member of staff, they like to introduce potential staff to as many members of their team as possible throughout the procedure so expect to see a lot of different people, the more names you remember gets you some brownie points!
This interview is smaller yet with around 2 people (no 1 on 1 interviews here) and again is more like a conversation, there are some more questions at this point and it is much more direct and personal with the member of staff, these questions are similar to the last interview, situational and just trying to see what you are like as a person in terms of dealing with customers and what experience you have as well as questions on what you think of Apple and their services.. Discussing the fact that everybody is different and want different things from customer service is probably a good thing to say as it shows understanding of people. Be yourself and don't worry too much because they are really very friendly people and are not out to trip you up, as long as your a creative, confident and friendly person you will do just fine.
Following this you will either get a phone call offering you a job or telling you that you are being put into their 'pipeline' for when a job becomes available, or you will receive an e-mail saying you have unfortunately been un-successful.
Overall I had a really good experience and I would advise anybody to apply for a job at Apple, they are such lovely people and they really do care about their customers!
