Average Interview – Overall Neutral Experience – No – Sun, 5 Apr 2015
Interviewed Mar 2015 in Cupertino, CA(took 25 days)
The process went smoothly: 3 phone/face time interviews. A recruiter called first to gauge interest and tech knowledge, and they set up the second interview. A few days later, a recruiter calls to ask more in depth questions about CS and does a simple role play, and a third face time interview is scheduled. Lastly, a manager calls to do 4 or so role plays and CS scenarios - about a 35-45 min. call. They'll call you if you've been accepted, or reply with an email with bad news. Everyone is very nice and make you feel comfortable.
I would add, though, and mirror a number of respondents who've been surprised that they were not offered the position (and specifically mentioned that they were older), that I can't help but think that age did factor into their decision. I'm in my mid 40's, and was interviewed by a very young woman. I was quite surprised to receive a rejection email rather than a welcome call. I have years of CS experience and have troubleshooted (shot?) Macs and Apple devices for 20 years. I answered each question clearly, and showed empathy in each of the role plays.
I'd be interested to see if there are any older folks here who have been hired -- it seems the vast majority of interviewees are offered the position, but those who are not, have seemingly been older. Could just be sour grapes, though. Best of luck to everyone.
