Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Thu, 28 May 2015
Interviewed May 2015 in Cupertino, CA(took 180 days)
I attended an online hiring fair several months ago. I saw that Apple had a recruiter present, and I reviewed their available open positions; the Apple At Home Advisor being one of them. I applied online. This was the very first time I attended a virtual career fair, and was skeptical of it's job hiring success rate, but it soon proved to be a positive experience.
Several months later I was contacted by a recruiter to complete my online job profile and application. A couple of weeks after that, a recruiter called to conduct a basic, informal phone interview. This first call was about general availability. He asked about possible scheduling conflicts for the training and after training. He immediately scheduled me for my first Facetime interview with another recruiter for the following week.
The second interview (via Facetime) was about customer service experience. The interviewer went over the position in great detail. I was then asked to describe my professional background and asked to describe how I would handle hypothetical customer situations. I also did one roll play.
I was then immediately scheduled for my third and final interview. This was scheduled to be a Skype interview, but the hiring manager ended up only conducting a phone interview at the last minute due to system issues on his behalf. This interview was about technical questions and how I would find the solution to problems. They want to find out if you can isolate the issue and find the solution. They do this by asking how you would handle certain customer scenarios and by roll playing.
After the third interview, they conduct a thorough background check. Make sure you have all social media accounts interview-ready (ie no embarrassing FB photos or tweets) prior to any of the formal interviews. Also, make sure you do a practice Facetime mock-interview with a friend to weed out the possibility of embarrassing errors (ie: sound is muted, lighting is bad, etc.)
Good luck!
Interview Questions
Roll Play: I'm at a coffee shop with a study group from school. My professor sent me an email with an audio file for us to listen to and discuss. However, when I open the file, I have no sound. It looks like it's playing, but I don't hear anything.
