Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Tue, 23 Jun 2015

Interviewed Jun 2015
I spoke to two people. The first phone call was 10 minutes and just a basic run down of the role, time frames and pay. The lady I spoke to was polite and professional. She was a very nice representation of the company. The second interview was through web cam. I interviewed with a male recruiter. He was not polite and professional. I am a confident person and I tend to interview very well. This was the most poorly done interview I have ever been through. I am very disappointed that this was my experience. I had my expectations too high for Apple. He seemed annoyed from the very beginning. The tone of our conversation felt like he was a crime show lawyer trying to catch me in a lie. I could tell that he wasn't paying attention to my answers because he would ask me to clarify on things that I had not said. There were several times that I was speaking and he just interrupted me by speaking over me and not giving me a chance to finish my statement. He never apologized for the interruptions. He was telling me about the importance of having empathy. While it is true that empathy is important, it was odd to listen to since he had not shown any. When it came time for me to ask questions he dodged them, which was dumbfounding. Granted, the company is under no obligation to release their information to me. I have never been told that retention rates being low, medium or high were classified information or that they couldn't answer questions on future opportunities within the company because they "didn't know me well enough" to know what direction I wanted to go in. After the interview I had no expectations of moving to the next stage. For everyone's sake (future applicants, Apple, the recruiter) I hope that the negative, toxic person I spoke to was him poorly handling a bad mood and not a true representation of how he behaves in a professional environment. I have been lucky enough to be valued everywhere I've worked at. People have cried when I put my notice in. I've always been asked if I'm willing to negotiate to stay. One employer of over 4,000 decided to pull their best 60 employees to quiz them and give the information to HR to help hire the best applicants. I was one of those 60. I'm a great resource where ever I go. I don't say this to brag, but to give a representation of the quality of work I deliver. It's a pity that such a poor attitude can close a door of opportunity for me and cheat the company out of a good employee. If anyone is interviewing with him in the future, I hope your experience is much better than mine. If it isn't, just be prepared for his attitude and don't let it throw you. That is his inability to be professional and a decent human being. It is not a reflection of you or your abilities.
