Average Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Mon, 26 Jan 2015

Interviewed Jan 2015(took 21 days)
The initial hiring interest was a phone call; they called me wanting to do a preliminary which I passed. We got along well and the person was very friendly, but I had to correct her when she got my email address wrong. I was set up with an interview one week later. During the morning of that interview, I received a call from someone at Apple saying that my interviewer wouldn't be available to give my interview because she had gone to the hospital. Come 4:00pm, when my interview was scheduled, I received a phone call from the interviewer wondering where I was and why I didn't attend on time. I had to explain that I was called about her cancelling, to which I was told it was a 'misunderstanding' and we had to reschedule a second time. She spent the phone call apologizing and stating that it was unprofessional and not my fault there was a miscommunication. I noted that it was alright and that mistakes happen; we rescheduled. In between the second and third interview, I was called back from Apple again-- who wanted to change the job requirements. Instead of phone customer care, they wanted to change the job description. The third interview was much harder than the last-- he was 10 minutes late and interviewing me from his bedroom in a t-shirt, with his items around the house in the background and and earbuds in. He seemed nice, but extremely socially awkward. It made friendly/casual communication difficult; the kind of weird talk you have with a stranger standing in line at the supermarket. It didn't feel natural. I did the best of my ability to answer questions in a friendly and sincere manner; gave empathy when needed and roleplayed out two scenarios where I was helping two customers at once; basic multitasking. This wasn't difficult and I felt I did very well. He seemed indifferent to my communication/typing skills in dealing with customers, even though the first two interviews were very favorable toward me and praised them. After three interviews, he awkwardly closed the conversation with "We'll be in touch with you." I asked if it would be through e-mail or phone call. His response with, "I guess you should look for both?" It was stated in a manner like he didn't know the answer to the question I gave. A week later, I received an email saying they chose someone else. I went through three interviews and lost another job opportunity because they strung me along for a very long period of time instead of simply letting me know at the beginning that I may not be what they were looking for. Between the miscommunications, wrong email addresses, unprofessional scheduling issues, and taking me through three weeks of waiting just to find out they weren't interested in my skillset anyway-- needless to say, I'm a little unimpressed.
