Average Interview – Overall Neutral Experience – No – Mon, 27 Apr 2015

Interviewed Apr 2015(took 14 days)
Applied online. Get a call from them to arrange a time for a phone interview. The phone interview consist of three parts. The first part is going through all details about the role, salary, work hours and other stuffs. Next part is some generic customer service questions. The last part is the role play. The questions are more specific. However, no knowledge of apple products is required here. Other posts on Glassdoor are really helpful. I got a email from them to proceed to the next step right after the phone interview. It asked about perform an internet speed test, signing a confidentiality form to complete background check. I filled out all of them and sent it away on the same day. The company (hireright) then called my previous employers and the university I studied to confirm details like starting/finishing date of the job and salary. I was not happy with them as I got a discrepancy of my employment history. I used to work in a Mcdonald's restaurant on casual basis. I called the store asking for the supporting documents to confirm my employment with them but only to find out that it was sold to another owner. I emailed the admin office that used to send out payslip asking for help but didn't get any reply. I later found out that hireright also called the store asking for supporting documents but was told the same thing and the new owner can only confirm I used to employed with Mcdonald's. I informed hireright about the situation and told them because of the nature of my employment I did not have a contract which indicates the starting and finishing date. Instead I gave them the first and last payslip (indicating my salary and employer) and my payment summary of 2013-2014 financial year. They did not try to contact me to clarify anything but decided to make the conclusion that there was discrepancy of my employment history. I was called to arrange a video interview a week later. To be honest, this was not a pleasant experience. The interviewer was a guy in his late 30s wearing a t-shirt sitting at his home. The questions were not that hard to answer but the atmosphere was bit bizarre. A few days later I got a rejection letter from apple. It did not mention why I got rejected. I suspect that it was because of the discrepancy of my employment history.
