Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Tue, 2 Sep 2014

Interviewed Aug 2014 in Florence(took 3 months)
I applied online for Apple retail store jobs. They called me 2 months later and, after a short and informal phone interview, they invited me to a group hiring event at a hotel 2 weeks later. My group included 10 candidates and mostly was about 25 years old. They showed us some videos about Apple and then they asked us to introduce ourselves. After that, there was some role playing: you were given different scenarios and you had to take the customer role and then the Apple employee. At the end they asked us to fill out a form about availability and location preferences. A day after I received an email stating that they were "moving forward with other candidates".

The interview process is all about seeing your personality and ability to work well with others. Outgoing, fun, humble, dependable, unique, strong character are all desirable qualities. All the tech stuff can be taught, but inherent "like ability" and "trustability" are harder to find. There are amazing specialists that do not own a single apple product (yet). Do not over exaggerate about how long you've been a computer nerd, or how many apple devices you own as that will hurt more than help in general.

Interview Questions
There are often group discussions about desert island scenarios, and it's not about the end goal, it's about how well you work with the ideas of the other people in your group.

Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Tue, 2 Sep 2014

Interviewed null -1 in South Florida, FL(took 8 weeks)
Initially communicated by applying online. However I did follow up in person with a physical copy of my resume (which I encourage you do). I was contacted on my cell to come in and interview with one of the store managers. They asked a lot of behavioral questions, overcoming objection questions, and examples of relevant experience. Be prepared to align yourself with the brand and give a good point on why you would be good working with Apple. The second interview was very similar to the first with another manager. And the filing of you with the store leader. Very casual. I encourage you to be able to speak upon yourself, again why you would make a good fit at Apple retail. They can read through B.S, So don't bother.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Tue, 2 Sep 2014

Interviewed null -1 in Los Angeles, CA
Been through the interview process a few time with two different markets. I've been to three hiring seminars, big groups often held in a hotel ballroom. Everyone introduces themselves, they show a presentation, and then break into groups. They look for those who stand out and have knowledge of the company. During the group interview is when they ask more customer service based questions that involve Apple products. I believe this is where you can shine the most if you're well versed with Apple products. Every time I went to a hiring seminar I got a callback for a store interview. The callbacks depend on the store, I always received mine within 24 hours of the seminar. If you make it past the first store interview there's still a few more interviews to go through before you get to the offer. I've made it far, but never got to the last interview before the offer.

Interviewed Aug 2014 in Dallas, TX(took 2 weeks)
Applied and was invited to attend a group interview. Around 70 people showed up for the group interview, and then roughly 10 were selected for interviews after the group interview. Had the first interview with the store leader within a few days, and the interview with the market leader later that day. Interview process was more of a conversation than a sit you down and grill you interview.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Fri, 5 Sep 2014

Interviewed null -1 in Cupertino, CA(took 2 weeks)
When interviewing for the expert role you have to go through a rigorous panel interview with 5 different managers; a store leader, one is the market leader, a lead Genius, and 2 other managers. You will have to pass a verbal technical panel that is 30 minutes long with the lead genius. Once you get though all 5 they thank you and have you on your way home. It took 10 days before I found out I got the job. This is all after already being employed with apple for 6 months. The interviews into apple is a much harder process. Multiple group interviews.

Interview Questions
They asked about Xsan- which I thought was odd as it was not something we discussed much on the retail floor.

Very Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – 1 of 1 found this helpful – Sat, 6 Sep 2014

Interviewed Sep 2014(took 2 weeks)
1 recruiter phone call and 1 phone interview with an EPM. The interview wasn't even an interview. The guy only called me because I had a referral. He didn't know my resume well, was unprepared, and made up his mind that I wasn't a good fit prior to the interview. The interviewer asked me if I had any questions about the job so many times--even after he told me I wasn't a good fit. I don't understand why he wasn't upfront about the purpose of the phone call in the first place since it clearly wasn't an interview. He didn't take the time to get to know me at all. Total waste of time and a disappointment. I thought Apple would be more professional than this.

Very Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Sat, 6 Sep 2014

Interviewed null -1 in Honolulu, HI(took 2+ weeks)
For the retail division in the Hawaii market, applicants must go through a group hiring seminar. Applicants are constantly monitored and judged throughout the interview duration from arrival to departure. The next stage is an interview panel with a couple of managers. After that is another interview with the store manager and possibly another after that is an interview with the market manager.

Difficult Interview – Overall Neutral Experience – No – Sun, 7 Sep 2014

Interviewed Aug 2014(took 3+ weeks)
3 stage interview, the first being a group of 20 with some problem solving, the second being more like a typical interview with standard questions and the third being similar to the first but with more focus on your personality. I thought I did very well in each stage with a lot of people who knew about my interviews thinking I got the job, including an Apple Store employee. Alas received a generic email after 3 weeks of interviewing with no hope of feedback. Not being able to get feedback is hard pill to swallow.

Detailed process with seven individual interviews. Very deep questioning to establish fit. The panel of employees followed a similar routine but questions were tied to the individuals area of expertise. The process was very good in that candidate left with a full grounding of how the local company functions and the culture of the organization.

The whole process was very polished and professional. The HR reps were prompt and sharp. Interviewing potential supervisors was somewhat nerve-wracking, because they seemed to have keen "b.s. sensing" attributes. Questions were difficult, mostly about describing exactly how you performed in the past. Follow-on questions tested the validity of your answers. Strong emphasis in work ethic, how you perform under pressure, ability to travel frequently, and maturity. From recruitment to offer, 2 month time span.

Interviewed Sep 2014
Called and interviewed by their employment agency.A week process after the application, they called for phone interview, after about 45 mins conversation, they set up a date for face to face interview. There were three session interview, first, presentation, then role play, then Q&A. I found out the Q&A was the toughest part where you will be asked a series of questions non stop. The key is, do not stop talking as long as you have a strong point for the answer, elaborate with relevant fact. Study about Apple and some general info to relate Apple.

Interviewed Aug 2014 in Cupertino, CA
Applied through an employee referral. Got an email from a recruiter 2 days later asking to set up a phone screening interview. The screening process was about 30 minutes long, and the conversation was very comfortable. The recruiter was professional, friendly, and very down to earth. Most of the questions were behavioral/situational. About a week later, I received an email notifying me that they had already chosen a pool of candidates to go forward with. Guess I was a little too late!
