Average Interview – Overall Negative Experience – Yes, but I declined – Thu, 26 Jun 2014

Interviewed Sep 2013 in New York, NY(took 1+ week)
I applied online and was invited to a group interview. The group interview sucked, everybody interrupted each other, and they seem to have a favoritism for current Starbucks employees. I applied for a sales position or genius one but instead was offered a family room specialist one which I wasn't interested in.

Be ready to be interviewed multiple times. The average amount of interviews is 3-5 times. The most important part is to demonstrate plenty of energy and excitement. Any customer experience stories will work to demonstrate how effective you will be in interactions with customers at Apple.

Interviewed Mar 2014 in San Ramon, CA(took 2 weeks)
I went through about four interviews. I started off by actually coming into the store and speaking with some of the specialists and then the PR manager. I handed off my resume and was told to fill out an app online. I got a call back soon after had a phone interview right then and there and was asked to come in for an interview the next day. After having a solo interview with three managers I was told I would get a follow up in a week. I was called three days later and asked to come in to speak with the store leader. following that interview I interviewed with the marketing director. two background checks later and boom. It is a long process, mine was only about two weeks but I have heard it can take a lot longer.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Interviewed Jun 2014(took 2 weeks)
Got an email from a random Apple email address about being invited to their 'Apple Retail Hiring Event'. The interview was the typical group interview. Thought I spoke quite frequently and answered all the questions correctly (a lot of people ignored the questions and just talked up the Apple Products). Then went into a small group interview where my group had to answer questions. My group was all very eager to speak which got a little difficult. Two people interviewing the group seemed uninterested in what we were having to say. Left the interview feeling I did the best that I could, but unfortunately I did not get the position. Overall It was a good experience.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, but I declined – Tue, 1 Jul 2014

Interviewed Nov 2013 in Cupertino, CA(took 8 weeks)
It started with an interview at a career fair, then I was contacted by the recruiter for another phone interview. Finally I was flown out to Cupertino for a series of 1:1 interviews with managers and future colleagues. The offer letter was prepared about a month after the interview at Cupertino but I sadly had to decline due to the location (which meant my wife could not work). Overall the process was fairly pleasant, the hardest part was meeting 7 interviewers back-to-back with no breaks in between.

Very Easy Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Wed, 2 Jul 2014

Interviewed Jun 2014 in New York, NY(took 2 weeks)
Applied online, heard back in a week and was scheduled for an interview in NYC. The interview was a group interview, very laid back. Was told there will be 2 more interviews if you passed this step. It was just their effort in putting a face to the many resumes they get.

Interview Questions
The questions were very easy mostly talking about your work experience and your experience with apple products.

Very Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Wed, 2 Jul 2014

Interviewed Jun 2014(took 3 weeks)
Applied for Apple Specialist position at Christiana mall Apple store and went to group hiring event at a hotel in newark two weeks later. Ended up being the youngest guy there, mostly adults above 25 in my group(i'm 21). Most of the people I talked to at the event had no experience with computers at all. As a CompSci major I was shocked. So if you're looking for a job at apple and have no experience with computers or the brand, that clearly isn't a concern to them. After asking a varriety of really philosophical questions to the group after watching a short video they dismiss you. Group session was about 2 hours long. Was impressed at how the company handled itself at this point. Extremely impressed. A day later I received an email asking to go to the actual store and interview for the position. I had to show up incredibly early before the store opened and state my piece. They asked the same exact questions they did at the group interview. I answered to to the best of my ability and then left. Honestly the second interview left a bad taste in my mouth about how the company operates though. The way the guy interviewing acted was extremely fake and insincere in what he was saying. A day later was contacted through email stating that they were "moving forward with other candidates."

Interviewed Mar 2014 in Chestnut Hill, MA(took 1+ week)
Got contacted about a week after I applied. First step was a group interview where 6 of us sat a table and answered a question we were asked one by one. The group interview was pretty easy as long as you are not quiet and have a lot to say. After the first interview I was given the opportunity to go in for a second interview.

Interviewed Feb 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO(took 4+ weeks)
There were three interviews. The first was via FaceTime (or Skype, if you prefer), and was very basic. The most difficult question asked in the first interview was "What is an operating system?". The second was slightly more technical, specific to Apple. The third was really just the "negotiation" portion.

Interview Questions
They're more interested in people with soft skills. Understand that technical issues will always arise, so the customer experience is more important, in their minds.

Interviewed Jun 2014 in Lakeland, FL(took 4 weeks)
Really great experience! All 3 interviewers were kind, respectful and easy. First interview was over the phone and was about 10 minutes long. No hard questions. Why work for apple? My wifi isn't connecting what do I do? 2nd interview was FaceTime - scenario - I just got off airplane, my luggage is lost which has my computer and now my phone won't work. Empathy empathy empathy before going resolving issue. Which email protocol to use when syncing multiple devices? IMAP 3rd interview- was at party, my child fell into pool, I jumped in to get my baby and now my phone doesn't work. Then you will either get phone call from apple recruiter for next step of offer and to let you background check from hire right email,is coming or if email is sent - no call, no offer.

Interviewed Jun 2014 in Santa Barbara, CA(took 1+ week)
It took a while before I heard anything back from my online application. Once I heard back from them I received an email inviting me to a group hiring event. I arrived at the event with apx. 15 other people. They played music and clapped for us as we entered the store. They broke us up into small groups around tables. They had us interview the person across from us while they observed us. After each person had interviewed their neighbor we were told to introduce that person to the group. Following that we watched some apple promo videos and had a discussion time with the group at large. They then broke us up into groups of 3/4 and we conferred on a group discussion question. They then asked for us to choose one person to represent the group. They then asked us questions about how our group operated and did not care as much about what was said as much as how we functioned. We concluded the evening by passing around an iPad with standard job interview questions on it for each of us to answer in turn. After the group interview I went on to have interviews with a manager, store manager, and district manager. These interviews were very similar. They try to make it more of a conversation then a normal interview.

Interview Questions
Pretty standard questions. They are looking for a certain type of person, so they ask questions to know how you think and react.

Had 3 interviews. One at the office and then two at the actual store. All on three separate days. They rejected me through an automated email (at least they had the courtesy to let me know). Everyone was friendly but do your preparation; they are going to be tough and ask you a lot).

They asked a lot about specific examples to each question. Make sure you do your Apple research as well.
