Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Interviewed Jul 2014 in Cleveland, OH(took 3 weeks)
I applied on line at apple website beginning of July. Received a call from an Apple recruiter about 2-3 weeks later. Quick phone interview to see if they should set you up for the next interview. I was passed on for an interview the next week via Facetime with a recruiter. At the end of this conversation she said I would get an email in 3-5 business days to pick an interview time with the hiring manager. I got the email the next day and set the interview up the following week. Had my Facetime interview with a young man who was a hiring manager.. Nice guy, very informative and gave me much useful info about Apple and the job... He doesn't come out and say we are interested or not interested. He basically said be patient there may be more interviews or you may get a call or email from the recruiter. My interview was on a Wed. I heard back from my recruiter on that Friday offering me the job contingent on my background check. You then get an email from Hireright to fill out. I filled it out that Friday and got the call today !! Only Tuesday and was offered the job... sooo cool... so excited..

Interview Questions
The customer service part is a breeze for me. Emphathize with each role play they give you. The tech questions were more difficult. included explaining RAM to an old person, what would you do if your phone email wasn't working?, is RAM Volitale or stable, what is WIfi, what is Bluetooth? some of these questions I would not know if I didn't look up first. They are definitely looking for you to acknowledge the callers personal problem first though. Which is probably most important. They can train you on their equipment but it is hard to teach interpersonal skills if you don't have them to begin with....

Interviewed Jun 2014 in Pasadena, CA(took 1 week)
If you are picked they email you for a group interview so be prepared for that. There is about 9 candidates that are within the group. They do ice breakers to get everyone's nerves out and have you introduce one of the candidates. It is the store manager and senior leader that do the interview process. By the way they take a lot of notes based off the answers you give to them.

Interviewed Jul 2014(took 3+ weeks)
Reached out by a recruiter via LinkedIn. The process was very efficient and professional at beginning. Both HR phone call and first round of phone interview went well and got positive feedback. The second phone interviewer was out of office on the day of and a back up was scheduled. He was 8 mins late and told me about himself then before any question, he said this is a very general interview just tell me anything you think is relevant on your resume. He doesn't seem interested and asked some questions such as how often you travel etc and ended phone call 3 mins early. I been try to get feedback for couple weeks but couldn't get any response from recruiter. I guess when they don't want you, they won't waste anytime.

Hiring process was done in person. Very organized and efficient. Fun and not too stressful. Questions were focused on working from home, strategies and challenges of over the phone sales. Discussion of schedules and compensation limited but good. Followup happened quickly. Short process from interview to position being offered. Nothing to negotiate in a down economy.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Sun, 27 Jul 2014

Interviewed Jul 2014 in New York, NY(took 1+ week)
First interview was a group of 5 at the regional office in manhattan. One interviewer asking us all questions then started asking us each a specific question. Really relaxing interview if you're confident about speaking with people. A great way to stand out from the others. Second interview was held at the store with the Store leader. WAY more nerve racking because you're almost there. This is one on one but sometimes two on one. Still waiting on my response.

Very Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Interviewed Jun 2014 in Austin, TX(took 2+ months)
Interviewed @ Cupertino for PD position(onsite - 8 rounds); rejected --> resume forwarded to Austin team for Timing Engr position; went through 7 onsite rounds; cleared the onsite; discussed the salary/compensation with HR and then Sr. Management declined the offer.. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and IRRESPONSIBLE behavior by the HR.. The entire interview process took 3 months (Cupertino + Austin); went through 15 interview rounds; gave one of my best interview with the Austin team and Apple denied the offer after making me wait for 20 days after the confirmation of continuing with the offer process post-onsite.

Interview Questions
More than the technical question, the difficult part I fail to understand is --> The Sr Management has not seen or interviewed me, and they interfere and decide if the offer needs to be given to the candidate, with whom the respective team has already interviewed and found a skillful and talented individual. I understand if there is a change in business requirement, but the HR mentioned that the reason for the job-denial was because, the Sr Management thought that a senior candidate was needed for that position.

Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Tue, 29 Jul 2014

Interviewed null -1 in Springfield, MA(took 3 weeks)
The interviewing process for me was pretty fun for me. They give you a call first and talk to you about if you are still interested in the position. If you are interested then they will give you a very basic phone interview on the spot to see if you have the bare minimum of what they are looking at. You will then schedule an interview on either facetime or skype (your choice) and they are pretty flexible when it comes to scheduling it around your availability. The first facetime/skype interview takes about 30 minutes and you will talk to the Apple recruiter about customer service background and technical savvy. If they like you then you will be moved onto a facetime/skype interview with the hiring manager. This last interview is very much like the first one with a heavier concentration on the customer support end of things. Overall the staff that you experience every step of the way is extremely friendly and they really just make you so excited to work for apple!

Interview Questions
This really all depends on you level of expertise in the field. If you know apple, have a good customer service background, and have a decent amount of tech savvy, then you'll be fine.

Recruiter call, then manager interview and then another manager interview. I think i almost got through but since i was not in CA and the position was in CA, they waited for a week to fly me to Apple but then they just said they are not going with me at this time... i think they got some local person equal or good than me...so they saved some 1000 dollars!!! for flight and hotel... i think i would been called onsite otherwise...i was 100% sure i did not screw up.. so the moral is you have to be super and excellent not just good if you are remote interviewee.

Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Fri, 1 Aug 2014

Interviewed May 2014 in Cupertino, CA(took 6 weeks)
Got nowhere submitting my resume through their website. Used a referral from a friend and I got an interview very quickly. They are hiring a lot of people now so I actually interviewed for 3 different positions. I had no phone interview, and skipped directly to on-site interviews, although maybe this is because I was local (Silicon Valley area). I was at the Cupertino campus for 3 whole days from 8am to 6pm, meeting with a new person every 30-60 minutes. Each person, mostly engineers, would ask me a bit about my experience for about 10 minutes and then spend the rest of the time working out some kind of whiteboard problem. Most asked me to design some circuits or systems, while some others were derivations. Everyone was fairly young and very energetic. I came out of each day of interviews exhilarated but exhausted. By the end of the last day, I was so tired that I could not answer a very basic question. I should have been able to give the right answer just by looking at the circuit diagram, but I needed to derive the transfer function by hand. When I finished the derivation, I was like ... duh... It was kind of like doing a big long mathematical proof that 2+2 does indeed equal 4. In the end all 3 groups wanted to hire me, but I was instructed to pick one before they made an offer. I knew which position I wanted, but I took a week to talk with the hiring managers each individually and also some employees to verify. After I made my decision, it took longer than I thought necessary to get me the offer, but they are a big company so these things can take some time when there's bureaucracy involved. Communication with the recruiter was excellent throughout the process. Apple is such a secretive company that I did not even know exactly what I would be doing until I started. The people interviewing me could not tell me any details, and I did not see a single lab or piece of hardware during my interviews. Also, Apple has a need-to-know culture, as in if you need to know something to do your job they'll get you access, but otherwise you don't get access. So when interviewing competitively for several groups, a guy from group A has only a vague idea what guys from group B are working on. In many ways the interview is a preview of what it's like to work there. It's very fast-paced, secretive, and you really need to know your stuff. But I would stress that fundamental analytical skills trump specific knowledge. Apple was different from many other places I interviewed in that they didn't really care so much about my exact knowledge as in how well I could apply it. And that's necessary in the day-to-day work since every engineer is given a very high degree of individual responsibility.

Average Interview – Overall Neutral Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Fri, 1 Aug 2014

Interviewed Jul 2014 in London, England(took 2+ weeks)
After keeping my CV on file from a few months back, Apple contacted me regarding their London hiring event in which you simply register online and select a date and time that suits you. The first stage was incredibly relaxed. You are asked to dress business casual and are usually with a large group. You have to spend 5 minutes talking to the person sitting next to you and introduce them to the group (they introduce you in turn), then have two group activities. The first being a presentation then a role-play. Remember that the specifics here do not matter, Apple are looking for a personality type only. So engage with those around you and stay positive. The second stage was more intimate and the groups were smaller and held at the store you are applying for. Perhaps 6 people or so. Here you are asked a few competency questions regarding scenarios you've had to deal with at your current workplace etc. Again just try and stay relaxed, positive and honest. Even if you don't have the perfect answer, your personality might just be winning enough. The final stage will come as a shock. Another group interview with the store manager and another senior. Expect about 10 people all of who already fit the Apple store mould. This time you are expected to speak a bit about yourself BUT also engage with the group and interviewers. Be able to converse, ask questions and show an interest. I also think at this point your interests and hobbies play a role. What you currently do etc really matters because it gives you something to talk about and the interviewers to pick up and engage you with. Also be prepared to do some homework. A background check with Hire Right needs to be completed where you upload copies of your passport etc. It's a little daunting but must be done. There were no one on one interviews.
